Patron Saint

In the Orthodox tradition, individuals are given the name of a patron saint during their baptism, taking on this saint's name as their own. From that moment, the saint becomes their spiritual protector, serving as an intercessor and advocate before God in heaven. It is customary to celebrate the saint’s feast day — usually the one closest to the individual’s birthday if there are multiple feast days — in a tradition known as the "Name Day."
